Do we really need to have Professor in the initial mention of his name? Also do we need to mention all of his degrees as part of his name? (Especially his BA and MA given that he has a PhD.) Any thoughts? Cjrother 23:03, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have one thought: less is more. HistoryBA 00:03, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. (unsigned)

Professor seems to have been removed now. Any objections to removing BA and MA? Cjrother 18:23, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would keep OC, FRSC, and PhD. The rest can go, as far as I'm concerned. HistoryBA 00:54, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken out the BA and MA but I left the LLD. I'm not sure if that is a real degree or if it is honorary. Cjrother 21:29, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This really needs a better list of his books. The article says he's written 60, you have 5. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.119.230.46 (talk) 17:26, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 12 May 2021

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Consensus to move to J. L. Granatstein. The assertion that this is the author's common name across a variety of media has not been effectively refuted. The search results clearly favor the proposal. As noted by 24.77.*, the COMMONNAME policy does not mandate "firstname secondname" form when another one is much more common. What bearing does the Order of Canada citation have here? Those citations consistently use full names irrespective of common usage. And The Canadian Encyclopedia seems to avoid using initials in biography titles as a matter of policy (they even title their article on J. S. Woodsworth "James Shaver Woodsworth"!). 24.77.42.223 (talk) 23:36, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Facts

Disappointed to see his spouse listed as totally incorrectly. What happened to basic fact-checking here? So strict keeping important women from gaining wiki bios, and still this. (OK rant over). JDHumphreys (talk) 00:44, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

On further review, this entire article is filled with misinformation and unsubstantiated claims. I have removed until each can be properly cited. JDHumphreys (talk) 00:54, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
